  6. This expansion is small, has a metal back and is err, very

  8. expandable.

  10. Installing the little board is no problem at all, unlike other boards,

  12. this one actually IS made for the A600 expansion port and fits in 
  13.  
  14. pretty well.

  16. Once installed it's just a case of closing the trapdoor and switching
  17.  
  18. on.
  19.  
  20. There isn't a difference to the speed of the A600 as the A601 only
  21.  
  22. adds memory to the existing chipmem, but if you wanted a speed increase
  23.  
  24. you would have bought the 620, wouldn't you?                #7More>>>

  26. I tried running a few games from workbench which usually didn't

  28. run, such as Monkey Island 2, it worked! WahheeeeyyyY!!!!

  30. I also use Scala quite often and usually find that the scripts run

  32. the standard A600 out of memory quickly, not any more.

  34. I recommend people buy the A601 and add fastram to the PCMCIA port,
  35.  
  36. you can then have plenty of chip ram and plenty of fast, this used
  37.  
  38. to cost a fortune, but you could buy a 1meg internal upgrade for just
  39.  
  40. under 30 quid and a cheap second hand 4Meg expansion for around a
  41.  
  42. hundred quid (or less). So now there's no excuse when games and
  43.  
  44. applications ask for 2Meg or more.
  45.  
  46. If anyone does buy this expansion then DON'T expect it to make your
  47.  
  48. A600 run faster!!! That's about all I can say really.       #7More>>>

  54. such as the A601 expansion which IS, very easy to install.
